The Summit in Pancreatic Cancer PanCAN, that seeks to stimulate a discussion of important research findings relating to signaling pathways and molecular targets, and their potential for incorporation and validation in programs of clinical investigation. Objectives: (1) A succinct review of current information and concepts relating to the biology of pancreatic cancer. (2) A discussion as to how this information can be translated into new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease (3) Compile of set of recommendations for implementation Format: •A small group of experts, (40-50) from relevant basic and clinical science disciplines will be assembled, including selected investigators who have made advances in other cancers, to undertake a interactive discussion of opportunities and challenges facing pancreatic cancer research during the next 5 year period. Proposed length: 2.5 days with the last half day devoted solely to the preparation of recommendations. Each invitee is expected to review specific research findings selected by the organizing committee for the purpose of ensuring adequate preparation for their active participation in the discussions. Such materials will be distributed at least 3 weeks in advance of the meeting. The meeting will be held August 2 – 5, 2007 in La, Jolla, CA at the The Lodge at Torrey Pines.
